La Pointe Farm, Guernsey - Going Green
Although the Green Tourism Business Scheme GTBS does not operate in Guernsey we are hoping to follow their guidelines as closely as possible
Our efforts so far
General
In November 2007 we bought a Toyota Prius hybrid we use this vehicle to fetch the various supplies necessary to operate the self catering business
We use the bus whenever possible (Bus stop right outside La Pointe Farm) we would also encourage guests to make use of the buses which are a modern fleet heavily subsidised by the States of Guernsey. The fare is 60p per person per journey this fare can be further reduced by pre-purchasing journeys

hours - A one mile walk to either Longfrie or L'eree will give you many
more options - St Peter Port to the bus stop outside La Pointe Farm.
First bus 0630 hours, Last Bus 2015 hours - Having said all of that we
are certainly not anti car in fact without a car you may miss out on
some of the things Guernsey has to offer. and quite often it is not
practical to use the bus
Recycling - We have a kerbside collection for glass bottles/jars and tins, you need to put out by our main entrance on Tuesday night for collection early Wednesday morning. You will find a supply of bags for this (Green = Tins) (Blue = Bottles) in the courtyard. For the remaining days of your holiday and for other recyclables there are recycling banks one mile away in either direction at Longfrie Inn & L'eree Bay
Local Produce - We buy all of our fruit & vegetables from local 'Veg on the hedge' stalls where possible, these roadside stalls many of them unattended operate on the honesty box system
The Apartments
The Apartments are all double glazed & fully insulated, although the
central heating
is available at all times all of the radiators have a thermostatic valve
that can be turned down or off
Lighting - As our stocks of conventional bulbs run down we will replace
with low energy wherever possible
