Cobo Apartment

Grade Four Star

One Bedroom, sleeps 2 - 4 people (see below)

This apartment is named after Cobo Bay which is about a five minute drive from us. It is smaller than some of the other beaches but very popular with a stretch of white sand and  slipways and steps for access. Free parking is available at three car parks and along its length is a kiosk, a pub, a tea room and a chip shop.

Cobo Apartment is one of two apartments within an old Guernsey barn conversion and was previously used as a stable for horses with lean-to hay storage to the rear.

The barn was completely transformed in 2001 into what it is now two modern apartments that have been given the grade of four star. All that is left of the original building are the outer walls.

Cobo Apartment is accessed at ground floor level from the granite courtyard. There is one step up into the apartment and once inside you will find the lounge/living/kitchen area. There you will find everything you are likely to need for your general day-to-day living, including cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine, cutlery, pots and pans, TV, DVD, CD player etc. There is also a sofa bed in this room, mattress measures 45 inches X 72 inches. One of the windows looks out over the courtyard whilst the other looks out over a gravelled and lawned area. From the ground floor there is a staircase to the bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has a King size bed that can be split into twin beds if preferred this room will also fit a folding bed or cot. The window overlooks a gravelled and lawned area. It also has two velux roof lights to the rear.

The Broughton Family

We stayed at la Pointe Farm at the end of June as an adult family of 7 - one couple in perelle, one granny in cobo, and one couple and daughter and boyfriend in portelet. The arrangement worked brilliantly - we all had our own space but could access the garden for meals in the sunshine through the ground floor garden flat - poor old granny must have thought she was living in a railway carriage at times!
All the apartments were light sunny, beautifully appointed, clean and comfortable with decent beds, and Kevin and Cindy are delightful hosts.
Large tv a boon for Wimbledon!!!
Things we loved about Guernsey:
the weather - were we lucky or is it always 28 degrees and sunny?!
the speed limit and slow pace of life.
the glorious plants and flowers which were EVERYWHERE!!
St Peters Port - loved ambling through the narrow streets
the walks along the cliff paths and beaches
kiosks and fresh crab sandwiches
sark- and especially herm -NOTE! DO NOT leave booking your tickets on arrival at the harbour because you most certainly will struggle to get on the sailing of your choice. BOOK YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE IF YOU CAN. Choose a sunny day for herm and stay a couple of nights at the hotel there, if not, don't eat in the tavern on the island but head for the pub attached to the hotel - much nicer and less busy.
try the following:
lunch/dinner at the fleur du jardin hotel, the farmhouse hotel, the jerbourg hotel- all have lovely terraces and pools - in particular the jerbourg on the coast in St Martins which overlooks Herm and Sark. Lunch at deer hound pub near airport - looks grotty from the front but super terrace and garden and great nosh.
Crabby jacks was ok but very busy and food a bit mediocre! Also recommended dinner at the the auberge du val by friends who live on guernsey but we didn't have time.
For ready made meals ( better than M and S by far)we'd certainly recommend a visit to the COOK shop in St Peters Port. All food tastes home cooked. If you want ...

We stayed at the Cobo Apartment during during the first week on June 2010. We were in Guernsey for a surfing holiday...and teachers at Guernsey Surf School at Vazon Bay were brilliant and good surfing. Beaches were lovely (and clean!). Kevin and Cindy were very helpful, and although we had a broken down washing machine, they kindly (and without hesitation) allowed us to use their industrial one as well as their tumble dryer (for which we are very grateful....thanks). Facilities in the apartment were spot on and the horses are lovely. Can't wait to come again.

We stayed in 'Cobo' apartment from 25-29th April. It was very well equipped with all mod-cons, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. We can recommend Cobo Bay hotel for a delicious meal and spectacular sunset over the bay. If you want a special meal, we would recommend La Fregate hotel in St Peter Port with wonderful views over the Castle and Harbour.

We will definitely return to Guersney and La Pointe Farm

Thank you Kevin and Cindy

We stayed in “Cobo” apartment for a week from 20th to 27th March 2010. Fabulous, from the flowers and wine on arrival, to the enormous bed! Never seen such a big bed, and so comfortable. Lovely apartment. Everything you could possibly need was provided.
We loved Guernsey, from the shops in St Peter’s Port, and elsewhere, to the attractions, from Neolithic tombs, to more recent history, with the many museums, etc. Lovely talking to Cindy as well about the history of La Pointe Farm, despite the rain!
Some lovely walks as well, especially along the south coast. Beautiful scenery.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and can’t wait to visit again. Would recommend La Pointe Farm to anyone.

Having read the delightful book “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society”,we decided to visit the island and see it for ourselves. We flew overnight from Toronto to Guernsey via Gatwick arriving at La Pointe Farm somewhat tired. We were delighted with the comfort and completeness of the apartment, particularly with the welcoming vase of freesias and the makings for a cup of tea. We found the apartment (Cobo) to be very well appointed with all one might need for a week’s holiday.
We enjoyed the rural aspects of the western side of Guernsey and found La Pointe Farm to be well located for peaceful walks in the lanes down to L’Eree and Rocquaine Bays.
We spent a day on Herm, fascinated by a community without any cars. We walked over to Belvoir Bay and on the way back stopped to have a pint and snack in the warmth of the Mermaid Tavern.
At low tide, a walk out on the causeway to Lihou Island was most enjoyable . We rented a car which allowed us to get easily to some spectacular areas, particularly the cliff top walks along the south coast. Le Gouffre and Jerbourg Point are outstanding. There is an excellent restaurant and gift store close to the Le Gouffre parking lot.
Because finding a parking space in St. Peter Port is so difficult we found it better to take the bus from the L’Eree Hotel into town (7 or 7A. It is worth noting this bus goes round the island so you can have a grand tour for 60 pence!) In the opposite direction the fish and chips takeaway at Cobo Bay is worth the trip by itself.
Good weather helped make this a memorable vacation. Thank you Kevin and Cindy for lending us the book on the island history during WWII and the German Occupation, and thank you for the bottle of wine and chocolate cookies we found waiting for us in Cobo.

our latest visit was 9th to the 17th July 2009, when we stayed in Cobo Apartment. The apartment was excellent and comfortable, just right for the two of us, with all home comforts included. The accomodation is secluded but within easy reach of all amienities, even without a car, as the bus route is just out on the main road. The variety of restaurants and good value means you are spoilt for choice, favourites 'Imperial', 'Crabbie Jacks', and many more. It was another peaceful, restful weeks, apart from the wonderful walks, with lots of fantastic views. Looking forward to our next visit

We stayed in Cobo apartment from 1st-8th July 2009, arriving just at the end of the heatwave. The apartment was perfect for the 2 of us - very comfortable and well equipped. The farm was very quiet, and we did not hear any of the other guests at all, resulting in a very peaceful stay. Guernsey lived up to Chris' memories from childhood and we had a very relaxing time with a good mix of lazing on the beach and gentle ambles around the beautiful coastpath. We ate out every night bar one, and had no difficulties finding a good choice of food.
